Causes of Chronic Fatigue: At Last, New Ideas for Understanding this Debilitating Disease

0

Attempts to diagnose the causes of chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) have failed. The CFS symptom picture is similar to other poorly understood conditions such as Gulf War Syndrome, Sjogren’s Syndrome, and fibromyalgia. They all share common symptom patterns that defy attempts to define the causes.

A large percentage of the population suffers from chronic fatigue which carries no medical diagnosis. A small subset suffer from CFS. The underlying causes of these conditions are unknown. On a sliding scale, people diagnosed with CFS (less than 2% of the population) suffer more than those who complain of chronic fatigue.

A small percentage of chronic fatigue sufferers are diagnosed with CFS. The symptoms experienced by people with CFS include:

* headaches

* disabling fatigue

* headaches

Other symptoms are:

* sleep disturbances

* feverishness

* skeletal muscle pain

* tender lymph nodes

* sore throats

* skeletal muscle pain

People’s lives are disrupted as a result of the symptoms and often lose jobs, have social problems, and get divorced. Even across the spectrum of the more severe symptoms of CFS, chronic fatigue sufferers can experience the same life-changing situations.

The Causes of Chronic Fatigue are Many and Don’t Allow for a One Cause/One Disease Diagnosis

Scientists and medical doctors are desperately trying to unravel the mysteries of these conditions which disrupt the lives of so many millions of people. Chronic fatigue is one of the major conditions suffered by the vast majority of the population.

One interesting new piece of research about Gulf War Syndrome was the notion that vaccines administered to soldiers, such as anthrax, caused the condition. It has been shown that viruses and vaccines induce an immune system response that does not turn off. What follows is a chronic activation of the immune system that’s clinically expressed as the symptoms of CFS.

The research was clear: vaccines, such as that used to fight anthrax, were involved in the cause of Gulf War Syndrome which is just another part of the chronic fatigue classification. This goes against the prevailing viewpoint and a great deal of resistance will arise to squash this notion so it doesn’t get a strong start.

For the reason that no medical diagnosis can be made, it may be time to look at alternatives to the prevailing belief system. It’s not well understood, but there are alternatives to modern medical viewpoints. Although medicine will argue against any attempts to side-step it, there are many other ways to strengthen the immune system and deal with toxic exposures such as vaccines.

It’s well understood that people with chronic fatigue and CFS have an imbalance in their immune system. In some of the immune system functional markers, they show some abnormalities:

* NK cells

* NK cells

* NK cells

It’s been difficult to identify if there is an association between immune system markers and CFS — the picture isn’t clear at all. Because this work has gone on for more than one hundred years with no final resolution, it’s clear that another approach that differs from the one taken by mainstream medicine may be the best option to look at now.
