Ping Pong Merchandise Is Hard To Find In The U.S.

Any good player knows that there is no one best ping pong paddle. There are many different paddles with various grades of rubber and what may work well for you may not for me. There are paddles that are best for beginners though, and they are the ones that have little to no rubber. The more advanced you are the more you will want a paddle with thick rubber so as to be able to spin the ball better.

The more expensive paddles have better rubber and more of it as well as a handle and bat that are made out of better wood. They have a much more solid feel and this will immediately be evident if you try playing with both and comparing them. Paddles that cost upwards of $100 have a tremendous feel to them and allow you to spin the ball and control it much better than you ever could with something less expensive.

There are only a handful of ping pong companies out there and Butterfly is a leading manufacturer of both paddles and tables. At any major table tennis tournament, the odds are the table and many of the paddles in use will be Butterfly made.

Butterfly makes a wide variety of stock and custom made paddles but you will find it hard to locate a store that sells them. Most sporting goods stored in the United States only carry a small selection of paddles and this is due to the low popularity of the game. American children dont grow up idolizing any ping pong players like they do in other sports and so the demand for merchandise is not great.

If you live in China or Japan you will probably have no problem finding ping pong paddles as the sport is extremely popular there. In the US though, you will need to go online to find a good selection or to have a paddle custom made for you. Luckily you can find a big selection online but the drawback is that you will have no opportunity to test the paddle before you buy it.
